You're much more of an adventure traveller than I am.

I love love love your idea of giving people money to travel. I really think it would change the world if people experienced other cultures and came to understand that people are the same everywhere. We're all somewhere on Maslow's chart. We may have different approaches of how to get to the next level, but we're all there.

Younger people are much more likely to travel and even live in other cultures now, and I think that's a positive trend.Patsy Terrellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03265729671827964868noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10718822.post-56291448508964108012009-03-07T17:37:00.000-06:002009-03-07T17:37:00.000-06:00Interesting food for thought from you, as usual. I...Interesting food for thought from you, as usual.

In my ideal world, every American would receive $3,000 with which to take a foreign trip. Not to Cancun or any other resort, not to EuroDisney or the most touristed places of western Europe where we would be surrounded by people "like us," but to someplace where the Yankee visitor would be in the minority -- and smack in the middle of a vastly different place.

A week or two there would show the visitor that the rest of the world isn't evil, doesn't wish us harm, doesn't envy us or want to be like us and, just possibly, once you look past the differences in customs and culture, might share many of our values.

Ah, well. Maybe when we balance the budget, we can afford this.

Darlin', you are an adventure traveler. You've done things that awe me -- and I crave a reasonably high level of risk or uniqueness on overseas trips.

This is my living will of sorts: If I'm ever in a position, physically or financially, where travel of the kind I've enjoyed will never again be an option, just pull the plug. I live to travel.

Morocco, anyone?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
